Security – The Central Theme of the Congress

The main organizer of the Congress is the Centre for Security Studies and Education (CS&E) of the University of Wrocław, and security-related issues run throughout the entire program. Session IV (13:30–14:45) is entirely dedicated to „Security, Power, Information,” followed by presentations delivered by speakers from the Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of National Defence (MON) and the General Tadeusz Kościuszko Military University of Land Forces (AWL).

Key Topics:

  • Autonomy, security, and responsibility in the world of algorithmic decisions – Col. Michał Malinowski, PhD, Eng., Cybersecurity Department, Ministry of National Defence (Session IV).
  • Cognitive warfare – Engineered forced migration as an instrument of cognitive warfare (Col. Ireneusz Kulesza, PhD; Tomasz Kałdoński, AWL, Session IV); Cognitive processes in the face of cognitive threats in the algorithmic world (Assoc. Prof. Kazimierz Nagody-Mrozowicz, AWL, Session VI); Responsibility in cognitive warfare (Assoc. Prof. Teresa Grabińska, AWL, Session VI).
  • AI in defense – Battlefield management: opportunities and threats (Assoc. Prof. Radosław Rudek, AWL, Session IV) and building trust in multinational military operations (Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Czaińska, Szymon Góral, AWL, Session IV).
  • Information security and control over information – „AI Quo Vadis? Security or Control over Information?” (Assoc. Prof. Mariusz Frączek, AWL, Session VI).
  • Cyber threats and societal resilience – Cyber threats targeting adults and children, and AI in education and defense (Krzysztof Konieczny, Session III); Building societal resilience through educational processes (Assoc. Prof. Ilona Urych, War Studies University / ASzWoj, Session IV).
  • Biological and intelligence threats – AI in risk assessment and biological threat identification in Lower Silesia (Andrzej Jarynowski, PhD, Session V); The role of advanced technologies in Russian intelligence operations, including child recruitment (Agnieszka Merchut, Session V).

This theme directly ties into our team’s presentation: the mechanisms of attention and emotional manipulation employed by modern technology constitute a vital dimension of cognitive security for both individuals and society.
