Research & Initiatives

Cognitive Science at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń is a vibrant research environment where interdisciplinarity meets real-world impact. Our research focuses on cognition, emotion, language, consciousness, and the social and technological dimensions of the human mind. We integrate approaches from philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, computer science, and the social sciences, combining strong theoretical foundations with advanced empirical methods.

We carry out numerous research projects supported by national and international funding schemes (including the National Science Centre, ministerial programs, excellence initiatives, and European funds). Research is conducted within NCU’s modern infrastructure, including neurocognitive laboratories equipped with EEG, eye-tracking, and behavioral research tools. This enables students and early-career researchers to engage directly in scientific work from the very beginning of their academic paths.

Collaboration is a key pillar of our activity. We work closely with leading research centers in Poland and abroad, participate in international research networks and comparative projects, and actively contribute to the Polish Cognitive Science Society. These partnerships ensure that our research and education are embedded in the global scientific community.

Research at NCU is closely linked with education and public engagement. Students take part in research projects, conferences, workshops, and outreach initiatives such as Brain Awareness Week and international student conferences. We also support socially oriented projects addressed to diverse groups – from children to older adults.

We invite prospective students, researchers, and partners to explore our ongoing projects and join us in collaborative research and educational initiatives.
