It is hard to mobilize yourself, and it might be even harder to mobilize someone else, maybe except when you are Th\u00e9oden, seventeenth king of Rohan, shouting \u201cArise, arise, Riders of Th\u00e9oden!\u201d. But let\u2019s be real, no one is, but the ability to mobilize others is still useful, and in this new article researchers studied which linguistic features are used in text, which goal is to mobilize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to do so researchers conducted three studies:
First they checked whether people whose task is to write a mobilizing text would use more verbs and concrete language.
In the second study they took text written in the first study and gave it to next respondents to evaluate whether the text is mobilizing.
Lastly the thirds group of respondents given the same text had to describe whether they felt mobilized after reading them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The researchers were guided by noble goals. \u201eOur research focused on pressing issues related to climate change and the civic engagement necessary to bring about social change on a large scale. As such, this research may be relevant to collective action.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
